Every diamond we sell starts in one of the world's most concentrated jewelry manufacturing districts — then travels to you with no retail markup, no brand tax, and a certified grade you can verify.
Most diamond jewelry passes through 4–6 layers of intermediaries between manufacturer and buyer. Each layer takes a cut. By the time a ring reaches a mall display case, the markup is 300–500% above production cost. StudsDirect cuts every layer except two: the manufacturer and you.
Our diamonds are grown using either Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) or High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) processes in certified Indian manufacturing facilities. Both methods produce stones that are chemically, optically, and physically identical to mined diamonds — the only difference is origin. IGI certifies the growth method on every report.
Rough stones are cut and polished inside SEEPZ Mumbai — Santacruz Electronics Export Processing Zone. SEEPZ is a government-administered free trade zone where gems and jewelry are manufactured under export incentives. This is where 60% of the world's diamonds are cut. The cost base here is a fraction of what you'd pay for stones processed in New York or Antwerp.
Every stone is submitted to the International Gemological Institute (IGI) — the world's largest independent lab-grown diamond grading lab — before leaving SEEPZ. IGI grades Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat, issues a report number, and documents the growth method. We accept only VVS1 or VVS2 grades. VS, SI, and lower are not in the catalog.
Certified stones are set in 14k or 18k solid gold settings — the same settings used by luxury retailers, without the luxury markup. Gold weight and karat are hallmarked on every piece. All work happens in SEEPZ before export. No outsourcing to secondary manufacturers after grading.
Orders ship directly from SEEPZ to your door — insured, tracked, and accompanied by the IGI certificate. No wholesale distributor, no regional warehouse, no boutique retailer. You receive the same piece a Tiffany buyer would receive at 60–80% of the price.
The traditional jewelry retail chain exists to solve a 1960s logistics problem: getting product to buyers who couldn't access manufacturers directly. That problem doesn't exist anymore. What the chain leaves behind is layer after layer of margin capture.

SEEPZ (Santacruz Electronics Export Processing Zone) in Mumbai is one of the world's largest diamond and jewelry manufacturing hubs. It operates under government export incentives that eliminate import duties and middlemen markups. Sourcing directly from SEEPZ lets StudsDirect pass 60–80% savings to buyers versus traditional retail.
Every stone is graded by IGI (International Gemological Institute) before leaving SEEPZ. IGI is the world's leading lab-grown diamond grading lab — the same institute used by Pandora, De Beers' Lightbox, and major US retailers. The certification covers Cut, Color, Clarity, Carat weight, and growth method.
StudsDirect only carries VVS1, VVS2, or higher clarity grades — no VS, SI, or lower. Every listing shows the IGI report number so you can verify the grade independently at igi.org. If you receive a stone that doesn't match the listed grade, you get a full refund.
All settings are solid 14k or 18k gold — no gold-plated, gold-filled, or vermeil. Each piece is hallmarked. The hallmark is stamped inside the band or on the setting post and can be verified with any jeweler's loupe or by an independent appraiser.
StudsDirect offers a 30-day return policy on all purchases, no questions asked. For exchanges, there's no restocking fee. Contact support with your order number to initiate.
